Adventure holidays for families should be fun, safe and enjoyable
Just one hours drive North from Malaga and ten minutes drive from Rocabella Villas, is The Kings Pathway (Camino Del Rey), one of the most popular adventure holiday attractions for climbing and trekking enthusiasts in the region. El Camino del Rey is a walkway, now fallen into disrepair, pinned along the steep walls of a narrow gorge of El Chorro. Built at the start of the 20th century as a commercial access route, the walkway was later used by King Alfonso XIII in 1921 to inaugurate the Guadalhorce dam.
Today, the crumbling state of the walkway, combined with the spectacular canyon scenery provides for an adventurous, once in a lifetime experience. In recent years a head cam video capturing this experience became famous on the social video sharing site www.youtube.com taken by a young climber who completed the route without safety equipment. Rocabella has always advised that this experience is one that should always be carried out under supervision of a professional guide and with the correct safety equipment.
